In the absence of a report from the Czech Republic for this taxon, surrogate data were provided by ČSO / BirdLife indicating a breeding population of 854–970 pairs, with an increasing trend (61–191%) during 2000–2012 and an increasing trend (83–221%) during 1982–2012.

In the absence of a report from Greece for this taxon, surrogate data were provided by the Hellenic Ornithological Society (HOS), the BirdLife Partner in Greece, indicating a breeding population of 20–30 pairs, with a stable trend during 2001–2012 and an increasing trend (5–30%) during 1980–2012, plus a winter population of 646–4376 individuals, with an increasing trend (37%) during 2004–2013 and an increasing trend (307%) during 1982–2013.
