Short- and long-term winter population trends for Italy misentered; should be a decrease of 0–30% in the short term and decrease of 10–40% in the long term (E. Dupré in litt., August 2014).
In the absence of a report from the Czech Republic for this taxon, surrogate data were provided by ČSO / BirdLife indicating a breeding population of 9000–17000 pairs, with an increasing trend (30–229%) during 2001–2012 and an increasing trend (50–207%) during 1982–2012, plus a winter population of 639 individuals, with a decreasing trend (68%) during 2000–2011 and a decreasing trend (51%) during 1980–2011.
In the absence of a report from Greece for this taxon, surrogate data were provided by the Hellenic Ornithological Society (HOS), the BirdLife Partner in Greece, indicating a breeding population of 30–80 pairs, with an increasing trend (5–30%) during 2001–2012 and an unknown trend during 1980–2012, plus a winter population of 18000–32512 individuals, with a decreasing trend (46%) during 2004–2013 and a decreasing trend (65%) during 1982–2013.
